Aedes mosquitoes are commonly found in Rancho Bernardo. These mosquitoes are aggressive, frequently feeding on humans. They can spread diseases such as dengue, yellow fever, and chikungunya. Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs in areas that will collect water, and their eggs are resilient, surviving dry periods before hatching.
The two notable species in the area are Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. Aedes aegypti, often referred to as the yellow fever mosquito, thrives in urban settings and can breed in small water containers. Aedes albopictus, or the Asian tiger mosquito, is distinguished by its black body with white stripes. Both species are most active during daylight, especially near dawn and dusk.
In Rancho Bernardo, Anopheles mosquitoes are a top priority in our mosquito control operations. These mosquitoes lay their eggs on the water, especially in places with thick vegetation or algae. Their boat-shaped eggs are equipped with floats that help them stay on the water’s surface. Anopheles larvae rest parallel to the water, without a siphon, and adult mosquitoes rest in a straight line. This species is the only one capable of spreading malaria, which makes them a serious threat.
Rancho Bernardo has five species of Anopheles mosquitoes that thrive in vegetated water, algal zones, and agricultural areas. Known for biting at dawn, dusk, and nighttime, effective control strategies are necessary to limit their population and prevent malaria outbreaks.
Culiseta mosquitoes are frequently seen in Rancho Bernardo. They lay their eggs on the surface of water, forming a raft. The larvae hang at an angle beneath the surface. Adult mosquitoes have a rounded abdomen, and while some species are known to bite hard, others are more passive.
Rancho Bernardo’s four Culiseta species can still be a nuisance, even though they aren’t the most aggressive. Our mosquito control treatments work to limit their population, ensuring a more comfortable outdoor experience for you and your family.
In Rancho Bernardo, Culex mosquitoes are a known vector for diseases such as West Nile virus, St. Louis encephalitis, and Western equine encephalitis. They are most active during dawn, dusk, and nighttime. They lay their eggs on water in a raft-like structure, often found near ponds, stagnant water, and agricultural areas.
These light brown mosquitoes have a pale band around their proboscis and prefer to bite at night. Controlling their numbers requires removing standing water and applying treatments to affected areas.
Our initial mosquito treatment starts with a comprehensive inspection of your outdoor areas to locate breeding spots, such as standing water and dense plants. We suggest preparing for our visit by cleaning up your yard and removing any stagnant water for optimal results.
The treatment process typically lasts around 30 minutes, depending on the size of your property. We use fogging and the In2Care system to target mosquitoes. Both methods are safe for children and pets, and the In2Care system continues to prevent mosquito breeding after we leave.
Our mosquito control service offers ongoing protection to keep mosquitoes at bay. Each monthly visit takes around 30 minutes, depending on the size of your yard. To prepare, we recommend removing any standing water. Our treatments are safe for pets and children, allowing your family to enjoy outdoor time without concern.
We utilize the In2Care system to provide continuous mosquito control. It targets breeding areas to reduce mosquito populations over time. Monthly fogging forms a barrier to prevent mosquitoes from entering your yard from neighboring properties. Our technicians will also check for mosquito-prone areas and provide tips to minimize them. Even after it rains, our treatments stay effective.
